It’s that time of year when we reflect and give thanks for the good things we have. We’re thankful for family. For friends. For a job that pays the bills and maybe provides some benefits. Whoever we are and whatever our situation, there is always something for which we can give thanks.
At Boys Town, thankfulness runs deep. For a resident youth, it may be a Family-Teacher making a hot breakfast. It may be for a shoulder to lean on for a struggling single mother, offered by an in-home family consultant. It may simply be for a hot meal and a safe, calm place to sleep because last year’s Thanksgiving is not a happy memory.
Of course, we at Boys Town are thankful for you — because without your generous support, we wouldn’t be able to do any of this. We wouldn’t be able to save at-risk kids from incarceration, violence and addiction. We wouldn’t be able to heal families torn apart by economic and environmental stresses. We wouldn’t be able to offer hope to crumbling communities, one child and one family at a time.
That’s because every donation, every story shared on social media, every word to a friend or neighbor helps. The more people who know about Boys Town’s mission, the more children we can save. And we’ve saved a lot of kids over the past 100 years. With your help, we plan on continuing his mission well into its second century and beyond.
You can help spread the good word. Visit BoysTown.org/100 to learn about Boys Town’s remarkable history and download free materials to help tell our story on social media. The holidays are a perfect time for such a heartwarming tale — especially one that has so many happy endings.
Thank you, and Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at Boys Town.
