Here’s to the Difference-Makers

Boys Town has always been and will always be a nonprofit organization, which means our existence depends on the generosity and assistance of others. Our supporters include individual donors and corporations around the country who not only help further Boys Town’s mission financially but also donate goods or services to at-risk children and families.

One company making a real difference is Fat Brain Toys. Founded in 2000 in Elkhorn, Nebraska, Fat Brain manufactures and sells educational games and toys that help children learn and develop as they play.

This May, Fat Brain Toys is running a promotion called #FatBrainGives – Buy a Toy, Give a Toy! During the month of May, for every qualifying purchase, Fat Brain will donate a toy to one of four nonprofit organizations — including Boys Town. So, for example, if you purchase a toy from this list, Fat Brain will send a toy to a child in need. The toys donated to Boys Town will go directly to the children in our foster care program. It’s simple, fun and a great way to brighten a foster child’s day.

You can track this worthy promotion as it spreads joy with every toy given by looking for #FatBrainGives on social media.

Foster Parents Making a Difference

Unable to have children of their own, Joey and April decided to become a foster family. They contacted Boys Town Foster Family Services, who prepared them for their new lives as foster parents. Today, Joey and April have found that becoming a foster family has changed their lives irrevocably — as it has changed the lives of the young children they nurture as their own.

For Joey, April and their foster children, a toy can be more than a simple plaything; it can create a bond between a young child and his/her new mommy or daddy. Many foster children arrive at their new homes with few possessions. A new toy can help take their minds off the drama of such a life-changing event. When you participate in Fat Brain Toys’ Buy a Toy, Give a Toy! promotion this May, you could brighten a foster child’s day.
